I attended captains meet of NYKA(Nav YUVAK Khel Association) held at Gandhi Peace Foundation on sunday 10th January 2010. it was indeed an event which was eyeopener for all of us living in decent houses. Hats off to Sanjay Kaul of people action for starting NYKA in these clusters. It was indeed gr8 work done by Sanjay and his team to start sports activities in these slums, NYKA got appreciation from all captains of nearly 40 centres operating across delhi. I have not seen any other organization doing something of relevance for these slum dwellers. On one hand Government is spending thousands of crore on CWG and on other hand it has no care for these poor poeple who are living from years under such pathetic conditions. We call ourselves pround Indians but are we really proud? are we proud that it is possible only in India where people die becoz of heat waves, they die becoz of rains, they die becoz of chill and even they die becoz of drought or we are proud that in our capital Delhi there are nearly 80 lack poeple living in slums and unauthorized colonies which have no provision for sanitation. or we are proud that number of poeple under BPL has increased by 12% in last 5 years. or we are proud that terrorist run away from police because of carelessness to strike again.
